Heart & Stroke’s Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR & AED Renewal course is designed for healthcare professionals and first responders who need to refresh and maintain their life-saving CPR and AED skills. Aligned with the latest Heart & Stroke CPR and ECC guidelines, this focused renewal program reinforces essential competencies required in clinical and prehospital environments.
Participants review high-quality single- and multi-rescuer CPR, early cardiac arrest recognition, and effective emergency response activation. Available in both blended (online + in-person) and in-person formats, the course ensures participants remain confident, competent, and prepared to respond in critical situations.

In this interactive and hands-on CPR course, participants review core principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), AED use, and team-based response. Led by experienced instructors, the course emphasizes confidence, precision, and adherence to the latest Heart & Stroke Foundation guidelines.
BLS certification renewal is a requirement for many Alberta Health Services (AHS) employees and is recognized by AHS, Covenant Health, dental associations, the University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan University, and other healthcare and educational institutions across Alberta.

Has your certificate expired?
By purchasing the Basic Life Support (BLS) Online Challenge for Expired Certificates, you acknowledge that the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada requires a valid, unexpired BLS certificate for standard renewals.
If your certificate has expired, you must complete this official online challenge to regain eligibility for in-class renewal.
A unique, one-time-use PIN will be issued through the Heart & Stroke portal. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass. This is a digital-only, non-refundable product. All certification eligibility, requirements, and outcomes are governed solely by the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
